Dr. Taiwo Afolabi, Chairman of the SIFAX Group, has declared the conglomerate's strategic focus for the 2026 business year, centering on innovation-driven growth and a reinforced commitment to social impact through its philanthropic arm, the Ajoke Ayisat Afolabi Foundation. This announcement was made in his New Year address to the company's employees, partners, and stakeholders.
Growth Through Innovation: The 2026 Strategic Pillars
Dr. Afolabi stated that the group's agenda for the year is firmly anchored on the theme "Growth through Innovation." This approach will involve a sharpened focus on achieving operational excellence, fostering deeper collaboration among its various subsidiaries, prioritizing sustainability, and enhancing customer-centric service delivery across all operations.
The Chairman emphasized that SIFAX is proactively positioning its diverse business portfolio to adapt to industry shifts and capitalize on emerging opportunities. Key operational priorities for the year include advancing technological integration within its logistics and maritime divisions, expanding the use of cleaner and more sustainable energy solutions, and significantly deepening its footprint across the West African sub-region.
"Above all, we remain steadfast in our mission to become Africa’s global conglomerate: trusted, resilient, ethical, and impactful," Dr. Afolabi affirmed.
Building on a Strong 2025 Performance
The innovation-led strategy for 2026 is designed to build upon a series of significant achievements recorded in the previous year, 2025, despite facing global economic pressures and uncertainties. Dr. Afolabi highlighted several standout performances from the group's subsidiaries:
- Skyway Aviation Handling Company (SAHCO) reported an extraordinary profit growth of 155.45 per cent in the first half of 2025 and secured strategic handling contracts with major international carriers, including Ethiopian Airlines and Air Tanzania.
- In the maritime sector, Ports & Cargo Handling Services Limited strengthened its position in the general cargo business, demonstrating increased capacity.
- SIFAX Shipping Company Limited enhanced Nigeria's export framework by launching direct Less-than-Container Load (LCL) export services to the United Kingdom.
- The group also advanced its diversification strategy with the launch of SKYPAY Africa, a regional payment solution offered through its financial subsidiary, Sky Capital.
Sustained Commitment to Social Impact
Beyond its commercial objectives, Dr. Afolabi strongly reaffirmed the conglomerate's dedication to creating positive social change. This commitment is channeled primarily through the Ajoke Ayisat Afolabi Foundation, which continues to execute programs aimed at supporting vulnerable communities and individuals throughout Nigeria.
The Foundation's activities were recently showcased during the commemoration of the United Nations International Widows’ Day in Lagos, under the theme "Invisible Women, Invisible Problems," where it engaged directly with widows.
Looking forward, the Chairman clarified that innovation at SIFAX Group extends beyond just technology. It encompasses the company's people, culture, and core values. He urged all employees to fully embrace the principles of professionalism, integrity, teamwork, and accountability as the organization works tirelessly towards its long-term vision of becoming Africa's premier global conglomerate.
