All On Grants $532,828 for Solar Minigrid in Bayelsa Community
$532,828 Grant for Bayelsa Solar Minigrid Project

In a significant move to tackle energy poverty, the impact investment company All On has awarded a substantial grant of $532,828 to Darway Coast Ltd. The funding is dedicated to developing a modern solar hybrid mini-grid in the Akeddei Community, located in Nigeria's Bayelsa State.

Powering the Niger Delta: A Phased Approach

This new project in Akeddei represents the crucial second phase of the All On Niger Delta Electrification Project. The initiative builds on the success of its first phase, which was completed in the Oweikorogha community. That initial phase deployed an 80kWp hybrid minigrid, ultimately connecting 451 customers and surpassing its original target of 430 connections.

Following a rigorous technical and financial review process, Darway Coast Ltd was chosen to execute this next stage. The company's proposal stood out, promising an estimated 1,058 new customer connections and demonstrating a strong focus on engaging productive-use customers, which are vital for local economic growth.

Technical Specifications and Project Timeline

The approved system for Akeddei is a robust 195kWp solar hybrid minigrid. It will be equipped with a 200kW inverter system and a substantial 421.48kWh battery energy storage unit, alongside other advanced power generation components to ensure reliable electricity supply.

The project received official approval in June 2025. Construction and deployment are now underway, with completion expected by the end of the first quarter of 2026.

Commitment to Clean Energy Expansion

Caroline Eboumbou, the Chief Executive Officer of All On, commented on the organisation's drive to support innovative solutions. She expressed pride in backing developers who are working tirelessly to expand access to clean and reliable energy across underserved regions.

This grant underscores a continued commitment to bridging the persistent energy access gap in the Niger Delta, leveraging renewable solar power to foster community development and economic opportunities.
