Cheapest Fuel in Ilorin After Dangote Price Cut Revealed

A Nigerian man residing in Ilorin, Kwara State, has taken to social media to share his findings on the most affordable petrol in the city following a significant price adjustment announced by the Dangote Group. This comes after Africa's richest man, Aliko Dangote, declared a reduction in the pump price of petrol.

Dangote's Announcement Triggers Market Shift

The development began when Aliko Dangote, President of the Dangote Group, publicly announced a new price for petrol. According to reports, the business mogul pegged the new price at ₦739 per litre. The Dangote Group stated that this revised price would officially take effect from Tuesday, 16 December 2025.

This announcement sent ripples across the country, with many Nigerians rushing to filling stations to see if the new rate was being implemented. While initial confirmations were mixed, the declaration set the stage for observable changes in retail pricing, particularly in Ilorin.

Ilorin Resident's On-Ground Investigation

In response to the news, a Facebook user identified as Elhadj Aboki decided to conduct his own survey of filling stations in his area. He observed a noticeable trend of price reductions across Ilorin in the wake of Dangote's statement.

After comparing prices at various outlets, Elhadj Aboki pinpointed a specific station as the current market leader in affordability. He highlighted that Ayinlak filling station, located in the Sango area of Ilorin, was selling petrol at the lowest rate he could find.

Social Media Revelation and Public Guidance

Elhadj Aboki shared his discovery in a detailed Facebook post, accompanied by photos of the filling station. He wrote, "Since Dangote crashed the fuel price, filling stations across Ilorin have started reducing their rates. I passed by the station at Sango that Abdulganiy Saad posted about the other day, and after comparing prices with other stations, they are currently selling at the cheapest rate. You should check them out."

His post serves as a practical guide for residents of Ilorin seeking relief at the pump. It underscores how a major corporate price announcement can trigger competitive pricing at the local retail level, offering immediate benefits to consumers. The action of this vigilant citizen provides valuable, real-time market intelligence for the community.
