Ekundayo George, a Canada-based Nigerian lawyer and businessman widely known as Ogalaws, has released a comprehensive roadmap to entrepreneurial success with his new book series, "Success in Business." The series, structured into five volumes and 36 thematic chapters, draws on the author's extensive regulatory experience in the United States and Canada to blend theoretical knowledge with practical, real-world applications.
Volume I: Starting
The first volume, titled "Starting," delves into pre-planning for startups, writing a business plan, securing funding, sales and marketing strategies, project management, and business evaluation methods. George introduces tools like the SWOT analysis and his proprietary "Top Analysis" to help readers assess opportunities. He also lists 29 potential job types and gigs that do not require a fixed office or formal certification, categorized under the terms Proxy, Moxie, and Velocity.
Volume II: Scaling
In "Scaling," George addresses the challenges of managing staff and customers as businesses expand, offering insights into maintaining growth without losing control.
Volume III: Situations
This volume focuses on structuring management, ensuring legal and regulatory compliance, and includes a detailed step-by-step guide for corporate crisis management.
Volume IV: Data
Volume IV is dedicated to understanding, handling, and securely working with data. Given the recent enactment of the Nigeria Data Protection Act and high-profile data breaches, this volume is particularly timely. George also explores the roles of cloud computing, blockchain, and artificial intelligence in the tech industry.
Volume V: Sustaining
The final volume provides strategies for protecting gains, maintaining progress without burnout, and avoiding shortcuts that lead to disaster. George introduces a simple formula to captivate readers and presents additional business ideas, such as recycling and job-sharing apps.
When asked about his target audience, George stated: "My target audience is everybody because pretty much everyone is hustling. Some hustle to pay school fees, others hustle in their main jobs, and then we have those hustling and making it big, especially in tech, fashion, and entertainment. Many people are also hustling in side jobs or survival mode while waiting for the major one to land, or for their 'japa.' Whether the side hustle becomes the main source of income or you are still hustling, there is something here for everyone at every stage."
Explaining his motivation, George said: "I enjoy writing. I published a 60-page Environmental Law note on the interplay of Environmental Protection and National Security in 2003. That article has been downloaded over 600 times since 2010. Now, I think it’s time to share some of my observations, tips, tricks, and anecdotes. The focus is on basic business, as attorney-client privilege covers much of everything else."
He encourages readers to start from the beginning but notes that each volume contains a biography and a full table of contents, allowing readers to jump in where their interest lies. "If you read all five volumes and are still unsure about your next steps, let us check it out and help you work it out. But please be sure that your answer is not found in a volume you did not read."
George brings over 40 years of experience in business, government, and law, including work with Ivy League legal education and roles in Canada and the United States. "If I write about it, then I have likely experienced it. This is all real human experience, not AI creation or hallucination. This is opportunity knocking and your chance to acquire these hard-earned business strategies for success."
