Federal Government Opens 2026 MSME Awards with N1 Billion Prize Pool for 100 Winners
The Federal Government of Nigeria has officially announced the commencement of applications for the Eighth Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) Awards, a prestigious initiative designed to recognize and reward exceptional businesses across the nation. Johnson revealed that the application window for the competition will open from April 7 and close on May 7, 2026. The grand finale is scheduled for June 27, strategically aligning with the global observance of World MSME Day, thereby amplifying the event's significance on an international scale.
He emphasized that this year's edition, themed the "Renewed Hope Edition," is specifically crafted to provide a direct cash injection to winning businesses. "The President wants MSMEs that win this cash prize to be able to say in the future that their businesses expanded because they got these grants from some of our partners. This is the year that they get that cash injection, which is not a loan in any way," Johnson stated, underscoring the non-repayable nature of the grants aimed at fostering sustainable growth.

The awards will feature 12 distinct categories, ensuring a broad and inclusive participation from various sectors of the economy.
