Funke Fadeni Foundation Empowers 4,000 Women in Ondo with Food and Financial Support
In a significant charitable effort, the Funke Fadeni Foundation has empowered more than 4,000 underprivileged residents, primarily women, in Ondo City, Ondo State. This initiative was part of a five-day event commemorating the 10th anniversary of the passing of Late Adefunke Fadeni, mother of renowned real estate developer Engr Koleola Fadeni. The empowerment program took place at the deceased's country home in Ondo City, where indigent women received bags of rice and financial assistance to help alleviate their economic struggles.
Foundation's Commitment to Community Welfare
Speaking at the event, Engr. Koleola Fadeni, Group Managing Director of KSI Group and founder of the foundation, emphasized the importance of self-reliance and entrepreneurship among women. He advised women to focus on establishing their own businesses before relying on government support. "My advice to every woman out there is to work hard and not lose hope," he said. "I know the country is not really balanced, but every woman should find something to do for a living." He highlighted that the foundation has been conducting similar empowerment programs in other locations, such as Bwari Area Council in Abuja and Akure, and decided to replicate it in his hometown of Ondo to honor his mother's legacy of caring for people's welfare.
Training and Future Plans for Empowerment
Engr. Fadeni revealed that the foundation has also trained youths in various skills over the past two weeks, underscoring a broader commitment to human development. "We have been doing a lot in the foundation and we are still planning to do more for the empowerment of women," he stated. The foundation plans to continue providing clothes and startup capital for businesses, with prayers for divine blessings on their partners to sustain these humanitarian efforts.
Call for Government Action and Accountability
In his remarks, Engr. Fadeni called on the government to enhance its outreach to citizens, acknowledging current efforts but stressing the need for more impactful actions. "I don't think the best is enough. I think we have to do more," he asserted. He pointed out that sometimes, intermediaries or advisers hinder effective governance by not conveying accurate information to leaders. "I pray that they're going to have good people that they will work with," he added, emphasizing that even well-intentioned leaders can fail without competent support teams.
Beneficiaries Praise Timely Support
Many of the beneficiaries expressed deep gratitude for the foundation's initiative, describing it as timely and impactful in addressing their economic challenges. They noted that the support would significantly improve their livelihoods and provide much-needed relief amid prevailing hardships. One beneficiary shared, "This empowerment has given us hope and a chance to better our lives," reflecting the positive sentiment among the recipients.
The Funke Fadeni Foundation's event not only honored a beloved family member but also reinforced its dedication to uplifting communities through practical assistance and advocacy for self-sufficiency.
