In a significant recognition of entrepreneurial excellence and economic impact, Temitope Runsewe, the Managing Director of Dutum Company Limited, has been named the African Business Titan of the Year at the prestigious AfriHeritage Awards 2026. This accolade highlights individuals who are making substantial contributions to enterprise development and driving economic progress across the African continent.

A Legacy of Business Excellence and Personal Conviction

Runsewe's journey with Dutum is not a new venture but a continuation of a family legacy. The company was founded by his father, Engineer Olatunde Runsewe, in 1989. In 2007, Runsewe resigned from a position in the United Kingdom and returned to Nigeria to join and grow the business, driven by a strong conviction in African potential.

After receiving the award, Runsewe stated, "Seventeen years ago, I resigned from my job in the United Kingdom and returned to Nigeria with a conviction to demonstrate that Africans have the capacity to build transgenerational businesses." This statement underscores his dedication to fostering sustainable economic growth and institutional development on the continent.

Recognition of Quality and Impact in Infrastructure Projects

Lawyer and broadcaster Kingsley Osadolor, who served as Master of Ceremonies at the event, highlighted Dutum's exemplary work in Abuja. He recalled encountering the company's construction of four pedestrian bridges at key junctions: Mabushi, Sheraton, Northern Parkway, and VIO. Osadolor praised the quality of execution, conservation of space, clean finish, and structural solidity of these bridges, noting their significant contribution to urban infrastructure.

The AfriHeritage Awards organizers reiterated that the event aims to highlight leadership that drives sustainable development and long-term institutional growth in Africa. By honoring figures like Temitope Runsewe, the awards seek to inspire future generations of entrepreneurs and business leaders across the continent.
