New Diaspora Initiative Targets $10bn for Nigerian Economy
Diaspora Initiative Aims to Inject $10bn into Nigeria

A major new programme designed to unlock billions of dollars in diaspora investment for Nigeria has been officially launched in Lagos. The initiative, named 'Diaspora Returns: Beyond Business Borders,' seeks to fundamentally reshape the economic relationship between Nigeria and its global citizens.

Immediate Economic Impact and Long-Term Vision

The project is set to deliver an immediate economic boost, starting with a delegation of more than 60 diasporans whose visit in November 2025 is anticipated to directly inject over $500,000 into the local economy. This initial phase is also projected to create more than 200 short-term jobs during its inaugural week.

Beyond the immediate splash, the programme has a far more ambitious, long-term goal. Delegates are expected to commit over $10 million in Letters of Intent within the first 18 months. The ultimate objective is to set a powerful precedent for channelling Nigeria's substantial $10 billion in annual remittances away from simple cash transfers and into structured, large-scale co-investments that drive sustainable development.

Building Bridges and Creating Synergies

The initiative was unveiled at a Lagos press conference by Nancy Aragbaye, Chief Executive Officer of Strategic Solutions Global, the company spearheading the project. Aragbaye expressed a profound personal commitment to the cause, stating she felt compelled to act now to bridge the gap between Nigeria and its diaspora.

The project will be documented in a docu-style reality film, capturing its journey. A key partner, Chantel Francois, President of the East Point Convention and Visitors Bureau in Atlanta, highlighted the natural synergy. She noted that Atlanta, the 10th largest economy in the United States, is home to over 20,000 Nigerians, and the daily direct flight between Lagos and Atlanta strengthens this connection. The collaboration will support conventions, cultural exchanges, and networking platforms.

Partnerships for Community Uplift and Wealth Creation

The initiative extends beyond pure business, incorporating significant community uplift efforts. The diaspora delegation will partner with organisations like the Defence and Police Officers’ Wives Association (DEPOWA) and the First Ladies Forum of Nigeria to provide mentorship and support for women-centered community projects.

In the private sector, Palton Morgan Holdings, a premium real estate firm, has affirmed its role as a trusted gateway for diaspora capital into Nigeria. The company committed to providing platforms for collaboration and wealth creation, assuring investors of world-class standards in its projects. These collective investments are projected to generate hundreds of sustained jobs in real estate, agriculture, technology, and the creative industries over the next three to five years.
