A new initiative designed to harness the skills and resources of Nigerians living abroad for national development has been officially launched in Lagos.
Platform for Skills and Investment
The Global Generations Rising in Purpose (GRIP) initiative was unveiled by the Woodhall Capital International Foundation. The program aims to create a dedicated platform for young professionals and Nigerians in the diaspora. Its core mission is to help them develop their capabilities, recognize their value, and find profitable and responsible ways to engage with Nigeria's economy.
The announcement was made by Mrs. Mojisola Hunponu-Wusu, the Founder & CEO of Woodhall Capital Ltd and President of the Woodhall Capital Group. She spoke at the GRIP Diaspora Series meeting held on Tuesday, December 30, 2025.
Building Trust and Showcasing Opportunities
Hunponu-Wusu stressed the critical need for credibility and disciplined governance in both business and public service. She pointed to her firm's established legitimacy, evidenced by a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Nigeria Governors’ Forum and the Forum of State Investment Promotion Agencies of Nigeria.
The GRIP initiative has a bold, nationwide strategy. It plans to conduct tours of all 36 states in Nigeria to identify and evaluate unique local investment potentials. The goal is to collaborate with state governments to package these opportunities and present them effectively to international investors, thereby fostering inclusive economic growth across the country.
A Vision for Clarity and Impact
According to its founder, the GRIP initiative seeks to transform the current landscape for diaspora engagement. "The initiative was aimed at creating a space that would replace uncertainty with clarity, hesitation with information, and distance with trust," Hunponu-Wusu explained.
Beyond investment, Woodhall Capital states a broader commitment to building platforms for meaningful social impact. This focus extends to key areas such as:
- Feeding and food security
- Good health and wellbeing
- Education and empowerment
These efforts are targeted across both Africa and the United Kingdom, aligning with the diaspora's transnational presence.
The launch of GRIP marks a structured attempt to formally channel the immense potential of the Nigerian diaspora, turning global expertise and capital into direct drivers for domestic economic progress and social development.
