A Nigerian woman who recently relocated to Canada has disclosed the exact amount she presented as proof of funds during her Canadian immigration application. The lady, known on TikTok as @chinenyenwa.e, revealed that she showed $15,263 CAD, which is equivalent to N14,902,265.
Proof of Funds Explained
In a TikTok video that has attracted attention from many Nigerians, she addressed a common misconception about proof of funds. Many applicants mistakenly believe it is a fee payable to Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) or to a third-party agency. She clarified that this is not the case.
She stated in the TikTok post: "Proof of Funds is NOT an application fee; I didn't pay that money to IRCC; I simply had to show that I had the required funds available." The money remained in her account throughout the process; she only needed to demonstrate that the funds existed, not to transfer or spend them.
Independent Application Process
Beyond the proof of funds clarification, she emphasized that she did not rely on any immigration consultant or agent. "I did the entire application myself," she stated. Her experience shows that it is possible to navigate the Canadian immigration process independently, without paying fees to agencies that sometimes charge heavily for assistance that applicants can handle on their own.
Her video has resonated with many Nigerians planning their own move to Canada amid the ongoing japa wave, offering a clearer picture of what the financial requirements involve.
Related UK Visa Rule
In a related development, Legit.ng reported that the UK Visas and Immigration (UKVI) warned international students that visa applications could be refused if they fail to meet proof of funds rules. Applicants must hold required funds for 28 consecutive days, with the final day no more than 31 days before the application.
