Dangote Refinery Sells PMS at N739 via MRS Stations Nationwide
Dangote Sells Fuel at N739 via MRS Stations

In a landmark move set to transform Nigeria's fuel market, the Dangote Petroleum Refinery and Petrochemical Company has officially commenced the nationwide sale of Premium Motor Spirit (PMS), commonly known as petrol, at a fixed pump price of N739 per litre. This new pricing is being implemented exclusively through the extensive network of MRS Oil Nigeria Plc filling stations across the country.

A Festive Season Market Intervention

The announcement, made on 22 December 2025, comes as a decisive intervention during a period historically associated with fuel scarcity and sharp price increases. The refinery's initiative is aimed at delivering affordable fuel to Nigerians and bringing much-needed stability to the downstream petroleum sector.

With over 2,000 MRS stations nationwide, the refinery expects the new, reduced price to be reflected at all outlets, ensuring the benefits reach consumers in every region. The company has backed this rollout with a guaranteed daily supply of 50 million litres, fundamentally altering the supply dynamics for the holiday season and beyond.

Commendation and a Call for Patriotism

In its official statement, Dangote Refinery publicly commended MRS and other marketers who have already adopted the new pricing regime. It described their actions as patriotic and crucial for national economic recovery.

"We commend MRS and other marketers who have demonstrated patriotism by reflecting the reduced price at the pump. We call on others to join this effort as a show of support for Nigeria’s economic recovery," the refinery stated.

The company also extended an invitation to other petrol station operators to patronize its products, emphasizing that broader participation would ensure the price reduction benefits all Nigerians and leads to a more stable market.

Strict Warning Against Artificial Scarcity

Anticipating potential market manipulation, the refinery issued a stern warning to unscrupulous operators who might attempt to create artificial scarcity in response to the price cut. It labeled such practices as unpatriotic and unacceptable.

"Any attempt to create artificial scarcity or manipulate supply to frustrate recent price reductions is unpatriotic and unacceptable. We urge regulatory authorities to remain vigilant and take firm action against such practices, especially during this critical festive period," the statement added.

The company called on government agencies to monitor the situation closely and act decisively against any malpractice.

Empowering Consumers and Ensuring Compliance

To protect consumers and ensure the initiative's success, Dangote Refinery advised Nigerians to avoid buying fuel at inflated prices. It highlighted the availability of cheaper, high-quality, locally refined alternatives.

"We encourage Nigerians to avoid buying PMS at excessively high prices when they can access locally refined fuel at N739 per litre from over 2,000 MRS stations nationwide," the refinery advised.

The company established a dedicated channel for reporting violations, urging the public to hold retailers accountable. Consumers can report any MRS station selling above the N739 price point by calling 0800 123 5264.

Long-Term Vision for Energy Security

Dangote Refinery reaffirmed that its operations are driven by a long-term commitment to national interest rather than short-term market pressures. This initiative is a core part of its broader mission to reduce Nigeria's dependence on imported fuel, conserve foreign exchange, stabilize the Naira, and strengthen national energy security.

"Our objective remains clear: to ensure a consistent supply of high-quality petroleum products at affordable prices for Nigerians, while supporting economic stability and reducing dependence on imports," the refinery concluded.

This sustained price reduction and guaranteed supply are expected to provide significant relief to households, businesses, and transport operators across Nigeria, marking a new chapter in the country's petroleum industry.
