Ebonyi's 98% Complete Housing Estates to End Family Displacement
Ebonyi Nears Completion of Multi-Billion Naira Housing

The Ebonyi State Government has announced that its ambitious multi-billion naira housing projects are at an advanced stage and will be ready for occupation before the end of the year. This initiative is a core part of Governor Francis Nwifuru's plan to provide aesthetically pleasing and durable homes that families across the state can be proud to own.

Advanced Stage of Housing Development

The State Commissioner for Housing and Urban Development, Engr Francis Ori, gave this assurance during a recent interview with journalists in Abakaliki. He confirmed that the two primary housing projects designed to tackle the state's housing deficit are now 98% complete.

Engr. Ori stated that the remaining work involves internal tiling, final infrastructure finishing, and road construction. "External painting will be done last to ensure a uniform and high-quality finish across all the estates," he explained, dismissing any criticisms about the design and construction quality.

Key Housing Estates and Their Beneficiaries

The commissioner highlighted several visible and accessible housing estates that are nearing completion. These projects are tailored to meet the needs of different segments of the population.

The Izzo-Amaeze Housing Estate is a critical intervention that will provide 140 three-bedroom bungalows specifically for families who were displaced by communal conflicts in the Ishielu Local Government Area.

Another significant project is the Public and Civil Servants Housing Estate, a 140-unit development featuring modern four-bedroom duplexes. Furthermore, the Nnodo Community Estate is designed with flexibility in mind, offering a mix of three- to five-bedroom units to accommodate residents from various income brackets.

Ori emphasized the structural integrity of the buildings, noting, "These estates have been built according to professional engineering standards, including raft foundations and reinforced columns, making them tangible, safe, and durable."

Future Plans and Broader Strategy

Looking beyond the current projects, the commissioner revealed plans for an additional 140-unit estate in the Centenary City area, which is scheduled to commence in the first quarter of next year.

He urged residents to be patient as the government finalizes the commissioning schedules, stressing that these housing initiatives are a key component of a broader government strategy to meet the social housing needs of all Ebonyi State citizens.

In a separate development, the article also mentioned that Governor Nwifuru recently led the state in mourning the passing of the pioneer Military Administrator of Ebonyi State, Rtd. Navy Captain Walter Feghabo, whom he described as a man of vision and discipline who laid a solid foundation for the state.
