Metro & Castle is spotlighting community development through its provision of affordable luxury homes in Lagos, Nigeria. The company aims to create conducive living environments with all necessary facilities and infrastructure, targeting Nigerians in the diaspora who need ready homes upon their return.
A Focus on Affordable Luxury
Two-to-four-bedroom terrace apartments are the hallmark of Metro & Castle's offerings. These homes are designed to meet the needs of the middle class, providing solid construction with perfect interior designs in a serene ambience. The Managing Director and CEO, Abdul Adekunle, explained that the concept was born from the frustration of many Nigerians, especially those abroad, who struggle to find reliable housing when they come back home.
“The designs of the houses were conceived to meet the needs of the middle class. We listened closely to the needs of the people and found out that a lot of people actually need smaller units – two-to-four-bedroom terraces apartments. This is to make people in the diaspora more comfortable to invest their resources here in Nigeria,” Adekunle said.
Infrastructure and Community Development
Metro & Castle's first five-year goal was to provide 300 housing units and three retail outlets. The company has already erected about 80 percent of the housing units and two of the three retail outlets are functional, with the third under construction. The Metropolis Square, a retail hub featuring a supermarket, is already operational. Additionally, a sports centre is currently undergoing rehabilitation.
“If you’re doing community development, supermarkets, sport centres etc. have to be in place. So the environment and our community have become better with these infrastructures,” Adekunle added.
By bridging the gap between fraudulent engineers and developers, Metro & Castle aims to restore trust in the real estate sector while fostering sustainable community growth.
