Rev. Fr. Emmanuel Obimma, a Catholic priest and philanthropist, has extended his monthly financial support to approximately 300 elderly individuals aged 75 years and above from Nkwelle-Ezunaka community in Oyi Local Government Area of Anambra State. The beneficiaries, comprising both men and women, each received a monetary allowance and a bag of rice during the latest distribution exercise.
Father Obimma, who serves as the Spiritual Director of the Holy Ghost Adoration Ministry in Uke, Idemili South Local Council, and also as the Parish Priest of Blessed Iwene Tansi Church in Umudioka, Dunukofia Local Council, noted that his charitable activities go beyond supporting the elderly. He revealed that he has lost count of the numerous individuals who have benefited from his various financial and material assistance programs, which also include support for fellow clergymen.
The cleric disclosed plans to embark on charity visits to correctional centers and homes for the less privileged in the coming days, aiming to provide support to inmates and other vulnerable members of society. Speaking during the distribution exercise, Obimma emphasized that his charitable work is driven by a deep passion for love, giving, and sharing, with the goal of alleviating suffering in society.
Popularly known as Dada Ebube Muonso, the priest stated that he has been committed to supporting the well-being of needy persons for many years and pledged to continue providing financial assistance and relief materials to the poor and vulnerable for the rest of his life. He urged the younger generation to respect the elderly, saying, "If you want to reach old age like the beneficiaries, you should respect them. They have been praying for me, and since then, I have not lacked anything."
During the event, Obimma prayed for and blessed the beneficiaries. He also announced a forthcoming 90-day prayer program aimed at breaking limitations and opening doors, scheduled to begin in the first week of July. He called on the Igbo community to embrace love and selflessness by supporting those in need within society.
Madam Angelina Ugonma Chukwura, a coordinator of the Fada Ebube Muonso Elderly Support Foundation, expressed gratitude to the cleric for his consistent efforts to ease the suffering of elderly persons. Another coordinator, Madam Irene Orefo, also commended the benefactor for his continued support for the weak, needy, and vulnerable members of the community.
