The South African Department of Home Affairs has launched an eVisa system that grants online visa applications to citizens from selected countries. Out of 54 African nations, only 18 made the eligibility list, leaving the majority of the continent without streamlined access.

The 18 African nations eligible for the eVisa are Algeria, Cameroon, Comoros, Congo (Kinshasa), Congo (Brazzaville), Côte d'Ivoire, Egypt, Ethiopia, Ghana, Kenya, Liberia, Mali, Morocco, Niger, Nigeria, Republic of Guinea, Senegal, and Uganda. According to the Department of Home Affairs, applicants must hold a valid passport with at least two unused pages and provide an email address and passport number that cannot be updated after registration.
Other Countries Eligible for South Africa eVisa
Beyond Africa, the eVisa system is open to citizens from Albania, Belarus, Bulgaria, Croatia, Cuba, France, Germany, India, Indonesia, Iran, Japan, Lithuania, Mexico, Oman, Pakistan, People's Republic of China, Philippines, Romania, Saudi Arabia, and Slovakia. This broad list includes major travel sources from Asia and Europe.
