Travel Expert Tasks NANTA Members on Stronger Digital Footprint

Dr Oludayo Gideon, the Group Managing Director of Aeroport Aviation College, has called for a more robust digital presence among members of the National Association of Nigerian Travel Agencies (NANTA). He emphasized that the perception of the travel industry is increasingly shaped online, making digital communication essential for visibility and narrative control.

Importance of Digital Communication

Speaking with journalists in Lagos, Gideon, who is a frontline contender for the position of National Publicity Secretary of NANTA, stated that publicity extends beyond merely posting photos. He explained that effective communication shapes public perception, protects the association's reputation, and amplifies the voices of its members. He urged NANTA leadership to adopt intentional, structured, and forward-looking communication strategies to remain relevant in the rapidly evolving global travel landscape.

Five-Point Agenda for NANTA

Gideon outlined a five-point agenda if elected to office, focusing on:

  • Quality representation to ensure members' interests are effectively advocated.
  • Enhanced digital presence to improve online visibility and engagement.
  • Strategic media engagement to establish NANTA as an authoritative voice in Nigeria's travel sector.
  • Increased member visibility to highlight success stories and achievements.
  • Long-term narrative building to create a cohesive and professional image for the association.

He lamented that many success stories within NANTA remain untold and pledged to spotlight members' achievements across the country. Gideon believes that projecting a unified and professional image will position NANTA more competitively both locally and internationally.

Contributions to the Travel Sector

Gideon highlighted his contributions to the development of the travel sector, including manpower development through Aeroport College of Aviation, where he has trained professionals now working in agencies, airlines, and related organizations. He also cited his role in founding the Travelpreneur Conference and Expo (TRAVCONEXPO), a platform designed to bring together key stakeholders such as airlines, tour operators, and regulators to foster industry collaboration.

Call for Support

Gideon urged NANTA members to support his candidacy, promising to deliver a publicity framework that amplifies the association's voice and strengthens its standing within Nigeria's travel industry and beyond. He emphasized that stronger engagement with the media is crucial for establishing NANTA as a leading authority in the sector.
