The victims, identified as Alkasim Ibrahim Walawa, aged 48, and his mother, Hadiza Garba, aged 73, perished in the crash along the Rimin Gado highway, located less than 10 kilometers from the Kano metropolis.

Details of the Deceased and the Accident

Both Alkasim Ibrahim Walawa and Hadiza Garba were registered members of the Kano State 2026 Hajj contingent and had successfully secured all necessary travel documents, including Hajj visas, prior to the tragic event. The accident took place on the road between Rimin Gado and Kano City, marking a somber turn of events for their families and the local community.

Sulaiman Dederi, the spokesperson for the Kano State Pilgrims Welfare Board, confirmed the development and expressed profound grief over the loss. "Their passing is particularly heartbreaking as they were on a noble journey with the intention of traveling to the Holy Land for pilgrimage this year," Dederi stated. He added that Alkasim Ibrahim Walawa is survived by two wives and seven children, while his mother, Hadiza Garba, leaves behind five children. Both were indigenes of Walawa Village in Kabo Local Council.
