Omobude Calls for National Unity and Civic Responsibility During Easter
In a heartfelt message for the Easter season, Rev. Dr. Felix Ilaweagbon Omobude, the former National President of the Pentecostal Fellowship of Nigeria and General Superintendent of Gospel Light International Ministries, has issued a powerful appeal to all Nigerians. He emphasized the importance of fostering peace, unity, and accountability as the nation commemorates the resurrection of Jesus Christ.
Embracing Core Values of Respect and Love
Reflecting on the profound lessons of Easter, Omobude urged citizens to actively promote respect for human life, honesty, and genuine care for others, including strangers. He highlighted the need for mutual understanding across diverse communities, stressing that these values are essential for building a harmonious society. "Easter reminds us that God is the God of peace. That is why He sent His Son to die for us, so that we can be reconciled to Him. Let us reflect and live in peace with one another," he stated, underscoring the spiritual foundation of the celebration.
Holding Leaders Accountable and Supporting Security Efforts
Omobude challenged Nigerians to hold their political and community leaders accountable whenever they fail in their duties, advocating for robust civic engagement. He called on citizens to support security agencies by providing credible and timely information to help combat the nation's insecurity challenges. Additionally, he urged political leaders to practice the values they profess in their places of worship, particularly those pledged during their inaugurations, to foster trust and integrity in governance.
Spiritual Hope and Generosity as Cornerstones
Highlighting the resurrection of Jesus Christ as the cornerstone of Christian faith and a symbol of hope, Omobude encouraged Nigerians to embrace forgiveness, extend olive branches, and show generosity to one another. He expressed optimism about Nigeria's future, urging steadfast faith and unity. "No matter how dark the situation may seem, there is hope. God who raised Christ from the dead will also smile on Nigeria. Let us give peace a chance, forgive one another, and be generous to all," he added, reinforcing the message of resilience and divine promise.
Fostering Unity Within the Christian Community
Omobude also emphasized the need for greater unity within the Christian community, calling for harmony both with God and among people. He noted that such internal cohesion is vital for effectively contributing to national peace and development, aligning with the Easter spirit of reconciliation and collective progress.
