More than 7,000 people from across Ondo State and surrounding areas gathered yesterday for the inaugural edition of the Owo Praise the Lord, a community worship event organized by entrepreneur Bukunyi Olagbegi. The large-scale gathering took place at the Methodist Primary School in Owo, featuring a vibrant three-hour program that blended spiritual ministrations with cultural celebration.
Star-Studded Gospel Lineup and Prophetic Message
The event showcased performances from some of Nigeria's most renowned gospel artists, including Yinka Ayefele, Bidemi Olaoba, Funmi Aragbaiye, Adeyinka Alaseyori, and Elijah Daniels. "We've invited some of the finest voices and performers in Nigerian gospel because this town deserves an evening filled with joy."
The entrepreneur, who was named among the United Nations' 100 Most Influential People of African Descent in 2019 and has chaired committees for The Future Awards Africa and SME100 Nigeria, designed the gathering to highlight Owo's Christian traditions and cultural identity within the Yoruba southwest region.
