The Zamfara State Zakkat and Endowment Board has finalized comprehensive arrangements for the collective wedding ceremony of two hundred orphans across the state, marking a significant humanitarian initiative.
According to an official statement released by the board's spokesperson, Comrade Jamilu Sani Tsafe, in Gusau, the state capital, the mass wedding represents a major community support program aimed at providing stability and dignity to vulnerable members of society.
Wedding Ceremony Details and Beneficiary Selection
The historic ceremony is scheduled to take place on Monday, November 23, 2025, at the board's premises in Gusau, where all two hundred selected orphans will be united in marriage.
Malam Habibu Balarabe, the Executive Secretary of the board, confirmed that the organization has already completed the screening and selection process for all beneficiaries who will receive this generous gesture.
"The board has undertaken thorough vetting to ensure that the most deserving orphans benefit from this noble initiative," Balarabe stated, emphasizing the careful planning behind the program.
Comprehensive Empowerment Programs
Beyond the marital ceremonies, the Zakkat board has designed a multi-faceted empowerment package that extends to various segments of the community.
The board will provide business grants to two hundred small-scale women entrepreneurs to help boost their commercial activities and improve their economic standing.
In preparation for this economic empowerment, one hundred women have already completed an intensive three-week training program in poultry farming and will receive starter packs during the ceremony to launch their agricultural businesses.
Balarabe further revealed that the board has arranged to settle outstanding debt cases in Shari'ah Courts and correctional centers throughout Zamfara State, providing financial relief to those burdened by monetary obligations.
Digital Skills Training for Orphans
In recognition of the importance of technological literacy, the board has conducted computer training programs for additional orphans beyond those participating in the mass wedding.
These technologically-skilled orphans will receive computer starter packs during the same ceremony, equipping them with essential tools for digital participation and potential income generation.
The executive secretary explained that this comprehensive approach addresses both immediate social needs through marriage and long-term economic stability through skills development and business support.
This initiative by the Zamfara State Zakkat and Endowment Board represents one of the most extensive social welfare programs recently undertaken in Northern Nigeria, combining traditional community support with modern empowerment strategies to create sustainable positive impact.
