A Nigerian man has sparked widespread discussion online after publicly announcing he closed down his church and completely renounced the Christian faith. The individual, who identifies as @the_real_kingdom_of_god on TikTok, made the declaration in a video posted on the platform, citing a profound personal discovery about his life's purpose and God's vision.
The Revelation That Changed Everything
In a detailed explanation shared on December 4, 2025, the former Christian leader stated that his radical decision stemmed from a deep realisation about his divine assignment. He claimed to have discovered his true life's purpose, the reason for his creation, and the specific task given to him by God.
"The first and the most important reason why I closed the church and renounced Christianity is that my assignment from God, my life's purpose, the reason why I was born, is to build the house of God," he asserted in the video. He was quick to clarify that, in his new understanding, the house of God is not a physical church building.
A Vision to 'Africanise the World'
The man's most controversial claim centres on a reinterpretation of divine will. He argued that the core mission is not to spread Christianity or modernise societies along Western lines, but to embrace and elevate African identity.
"The first thing I learnt was that God's vision was to Africanize the world. That's God's vision. Not to Christianize you, not to modernise you, not to Europeanise you, not to Americanize you," he declared emphatically. He further described the act of preaching 'born-againism' to Africans as "stupidity," stating that the message of Jesus of Nazareth was not intended for African people.
He presented a theological argument to support his stance, referencing biblical creation narratives and the concept of adoption. "Those who were born of the will of the flesh and blood and not of the will of Elohim... are those that require adoption. And it is to them we preach. Again, not to Africans," he explained. He concluded by asserting that the Garden of Eden and all Biblical stories are part of African history.
Public Reaction and Divided Opinions
The video, which was reported by Legit.ng and authored by award-winning journalist Victor Duru, has elicited strong and varied reactions from the online community.
Some commenters praised the man for his awakening. User @_Alusi_Ogbe001 commented, "I’m happy you have found the true path... we have been fooled for a long time now it’s awakening time." Another user, @oforbuikempeter, expressed optimism: "When I see a vibrant youth reasoning like this, I will just smile... because in no distant time, we will awake completely."
Others offered more analytical support. @bosompe24msamuel suggested that those still in organised religion are the ones who are "lost," while @Rose_Endiya agreed partially with the historical premise, stating, "Well, the bible is African histories."
However, not all feedback was supportive. Some users questioned the practical implications of his new beliefs. @pattown asked pragmatically, "But what is the house of God if church is not the house of God please just asking to know." Another user, @Sam mboma, emphasised personal choice: "You closing the church or renouncing Christianity have nothing to do with God or Christians it's your choice."
This incident is part of a growing trend of public figures in Nigeria re-evaluating their religious affiliations. Legit.ng has previously reported on a former pastor who disclosed his monthly church salary and another ex-cleric who stated he continues to experience visions despite leaving Christianity.
