NASFAT President Calls for Prayers for Peace and Unity on Laylatul Qadr Night
The Nasrul-Lahi-L-Fatih Society (NASFAT) has issued a heartfelt appeal to Muslims across Nigeria and beyond, urging them to dedicate prayers for peace in troubled regions and foster unity within their communities. This call was made by NASFAT President, Ayodeji Abdulrauf Abdulwahid, during the annual Laylatul Qadr observance held at the organization's headquarters in Aseese, Ogun State. The event attracted hundreds of devoted worshippers who gathered to mark this spiritually significant night.
Spiritual Significance of Laylatul Qadr
Laylatul Qadr, widely revered in Islam as the Night of Power, is considered more valuable than a thousand months. It is traditionally observed during the final ten days of Ramadan, offering believers a profound opportunity for spiritual reflection, seeking forgiveness, and renewing their faith. President Ayodeji emphasized the immense importance of this night, describing it as a time of divine mercy, forgiveness, destiny, and elevation. He highlighted that it was on this sacred night that the Qur'an was revealed as a guiding light for all of humanity.
According to Ayodeji, Laylatul Qadr serves as a pivotal moment for Muslims to deepen their connection with God, seek absolution for past transgressions, and recommit to a life of righteousness and piety. He encouraged worshippers to embrace this occasion wholeheartedly, using it as a catalyst for personal and communal spiritual growth.
Addressing Global and Local Challenges
However, President Ayodeji noted that this year's gathering occurs against a backdrop of numerous global challenges, including widespread conflicts, severe economic hardships, and escalating humanitarian crises. He pointed out that wars and political tensions in various regions have forcibly displaced millions of people, plunging countless families into poverty and uncertainty. "These global challenges remind us of our shared humanity and our collective responsibility as members of one Ummah. When one part suffers, the rest must feel the pain," he stated, underscoring the interconnectedness of the global Muslim community.
In response to these pressing issues, Ayodeji called on all Muslims to harness the spiritual atmosphere of Laylatul Qadr to offer fervent prayers for peace in conflict-ridden areas, relief for the oppressed, and healing for those afflicted by illness and adversity. He specifically urged prayers for stability and prosperity in Nigeria, emphasizing the need for divine intervention to address the nation's socio-economic and security challenges.
Promoting Unity and Countering Extremism
Furthermore, the NASFAT President issued a caution against allowing global political tensions to sow religious divisions within local communities. He warned young people in particular against being lured by extremist narratives or geopolitical conflicts that contradict the core values of Islam. Ayodeji stressed the importance of embodying Islamic principles in daily life by actively promoting peace, unity, and development within their communities.
He urged members of NASFAT and the broader Muslim community to reflect these values through compassionate actions and constructive engagement, thereby contributing to a more harmonious and progressive society. This message resonates deeply as Nigeria and the world grapple with complex issues that require collective spiritual and practical responses.
