The National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS) has congratulated Tijani Habeeblahi Adekunle on his emergence as the new Chairman of the NANS Joint Campus Committee (JCC), Ogun State Axis. The association charged him and his executive members to prioritize students’ welfare and restore the glory of unionism in the state.
In a statement issued on Monday, the NANS Vice President for Inter-Campus and Gender Affairs, Akinbodunse Sileola Felicia, described Tijani’s victory as a testament to the confidence reposed in his capacity, character, and commitment by Nigerian students across Ogun State.
Akinbodunse commended the maturity and peaceful conduct displayed by all stakeholders during the electioneering process, noting that it reflected the “true spirit of Aluta.” She urged the new leadership to justify the trust placed in them through service.
“As you assume the mantle of leadership, we strongly enjoin you and your entire executive council to make the welfare, interests, and academic well-being of Nigerian students in Ogun State your utmost priority. The current realities facing students demand proactive, sincere, and student-centered leadership that listens, engages, and delivers tangible results,” the statement read.
The NANS Vice President further charged the new JCC administration to work assiduously towards restoring the “lost glory of students’ unionism” in Ogun State. She stressed that unionism must return to its foundational ideals of advocacy, constructive engagement, and selfless service, rather than personal aggrandizement.
“It is time to rebuild trust, unity, and vibrancy across all campuses in the state,” Felicia stated, adding that her office would collaborate with the new executives to advance gender inclusion, campus harmony, and quality representation for all Nigerian students.
She assured the Tijani-led JCC of the national body’s unwavering support and partnership throughout its tenure, and wished the team a successful and impactful administration.
