The Public Service Institute of Nigeria (PSIN) has launched a five-day intensive certificate training programme for National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) members and ad-hoc staff serving at the Institute. This initiative reinforces PSIN's commitment to youth empowerment and public service excellence.
Programme Objectives
Declaring the programme open, the Administrator and Chief Executive Officer of PSIN, Barrister Imeh Okon, stated that the training offers a critical opportunity for participants to gain practical insight into the workings of the public service. She noted that the initiative is designed to enhance participants' competencies, positioning them for career growth and long-term professional relevance.
Alignment with National Agenda
Okon further aligned the programme with the Renewed Hope Agenda of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, emphasizing that youth-focused capacity development remains central to building a resilient, efficient, and future-ready public sector.
Support from Ministry of Youth Development
Delivering a goodwill message, the Minister of Youth Development, Comrade Ayodele Olawande, commended PSIN for the strategic and timely intervention. He highlighted the programme's comprehensive curriculum, which covers public service administration, financial management, entrepreneurship, leadership, communication, digital skills, and career development. The Minister, represented by a Director in the Ministry, Amina Mohammed Lugg, said the initiative will not only improve participants' workplace effectiveness but also equip them with the skills required to contribute meaningfully across both public and private sectors.
NYSC Commendation
Also speaking, the FCT Coordinator of the NYSC, Mr. Samson Ateli, represented by Mr. Eze Pius, described the programme as a commendable investment in human capital development. He noted that sustained training and capacity building are essential to strengthening workforce productivity and institutional performance.
Expected Outcomes
The training is expected to equip participants with practical knowledge and skills that will enhance their effectiveness during their service year and prepare them for future leadership roles.
