SUG President Achieves Academic Excellence at Prince Abubakar Audu University

In a remarkable display of academic prowess and leadership, Agbo Emmanuel Shaibu has emerged as the overall best graduating student at Prince Abubakar Audu University, Anyigba. This prestigious institution, formerly known as Kogi State University, celebrated its 7th Combined Convocation Ceremony from January 21 to January 24, 2026, where Shaibu's outstanding achievements were recognized.

Outstanding Academic Performance in Economics

Shaibu, who studied Economics, graduated with an impressive cumulative grade point average (CGPA) of 4.88 out of a possible 5.00. This exceptional score placed him at the very top of his graduating class, distinguishing him among thousands of fellow students. His academic journey showed consistent improvement, with his CGPA rising from 4.76 during his 100-level studies to the remarkable 4.88 he achieved by 400-level.

During his 300-level year, Shaibu achieved perfect Grade Point Averages of 5.00 in both semesters, demonstrating his exceptional dedication to academic excellence throughout his university career.

Balancing Leadership and Academic Responsibilities

What makes Shaibu's achievement particularly noteworthy is that he simultaneously served as the Students' Union Government (SUG) President during the 2023/2024 academic session. This dual role required him to balance significant leadership responsibilities with his demanding academic workload, a challenge he successfully navigated to achieve both academic and leadership excellence.

"This role required me to balance leadership responsibilities with my studies," Shaibu explained during an interview, highlighting the discipline and time management skills necessary to excel in both areas simultaneously.

University Celebrates Graduating Class Achievements

The 7th Combined Convocation Ceremony at Prince Abubakar Audu University was a momentous occasion that celebrated the achievements of 26,160 graduates across five academic sessions. Among these graduates were 178 first-class students, with Shaibu standing out as the overall best performer.

The ceremony recognized graduates from all faculties and departments of the university, celebrating their hard work and dedication throughout their academic journeys. Shaibu's recognition as the overall best graduating student represents the pinnacle of academic achievement at the institution.

Inspiration for Future Generations

Shaibu expressed hope that his achievement would serve as inspiration for young Nigerians pursuing academic excellence. His story demonstrates that with dedication, discipline, and effective time management, students can excel academically while also taking on significant leadership roles within their educational communities.

The combination of academic excellence and student leadership that Shaibu represents provides a powerful example for current and future students at Nigerian universities, showing that these two important aspects of university life can be successfully balanced and achieved simultaneously.
