Catholic Diocese Advocates for Societal Giving During Tech Donation Event

The Catholic Archdiocese of Lagos has issued a compelling appeal to Nigerians, urging them to give back to society and actively contribute to uplifting future generations. This call was made during a significant donation ceremony where the Past OLA Girls Association (POGA) presented 20 Wowbii Interactive Smart Classroom boards to Our Lady of Apostles (OLA) Secondary School in Yaba, Lagos.

Transforming Education with Technology

The event, themed “A Milestone in Transforming African Education,” was sponsored by the 1964/68 and 1965/69 alumni sets. It aimed to establish future-ready classrooms within schools under the Catholic Archdiocese of Lagos, supporting educational institutions in delivering high-quality, technology-driven learning experiences. The initiative aligns with the ongoing 70th anniversary celebrations of OLA Secondary School.

Hands-On Demonstrations and Collaborative Learning

During the ceremony, hands-on demonstrations of the Wowbii Interactive Boards showcased their capabilities in enabling collaborative learning, enhancing digital literacy, and preparing students for the demands of an increasingly digital world. These tools are designed to foster engaging environments and improve student-teacher interactions through advanced touchscreen technology.

Lieutenant Colonel Margaret-Mary Obigho (rtd), Chairperson of the OLAOSA 1968/1969 sets, emphasized the alumni's dedication, stating, “These boards cost about ₦2.5 million each, yet here we are today donating 20 of them to our alma mater on behalf of the 64/68 and 65/69 sets.” She praised Sister Agnes for recognizing the urgency of these teaching aids, describing the boards as cutting-edge tools for modern education. Obigho expressed hope that both students and teachers would maximize this opportunity.

Church's Mission and Call for Support

Father Vincent Bankole, Assistant Director of Education for the Lagos Archdiocese, highlighted the church's mission to educate and shape future minds. “To achieve this, we need tools that will bring this vision to reality. Having these interactive boards takes us to another level of preparedness for the future,” he said. Bankole appealed to others to contribute as they succeed in life, emphasizing the importance of supporting upcoming generations.
