Funeral rites for Dr Esther Oludayo Afolabi, who passed away recently at the age of 71, have been announced. The events will take place on Friday, June 26, and Saturday, June 27, 2026, in Ile-Ife, Osun State.
Service of Songs and Wake
According to a statement from the Afolabi family, a Service of Songs and Wake will be held on Friday, June 26, 2026, at her residence, Castle of Mercy and Grace, Phase 3, Moremi Estate, opposite Energy Petrol Station, along Ile-Ife Road. The service will begin at 4:00 p.m.
Funeral Service and Interment
The funeral service will take place on Saturday, June 27, 2026, at the Christ Apostolic Church, Oke Anu, Modakeke DCC Headquarters (along Urban/Ondo Road), starting at 10:00 a.m. A private interment will follow immediately after the service.
About the Deceased
Dr Afolabi was a retired school principal, entrepreneur, and former staff member of Adeleke University, Ede. She hailed from the renowned Baba Akande/Baba Abiye family of Ede. She was a devout Christian and a lover of people, earning a Master's degree at LIFE Theological Seminary, Lagos, and a Ph.D. at Adeleke University, Ede, Osun State.
She is survived by her husband, Pastor E. O. Afolabi, children, and other family members.
