LASUBEB Holds Pre-Bid Meeting for UBEC Projects

The Lagos State Universal Basic Education Board (LASUBEB) has conducted a pre-bid meeting for the 2023/2024 UBEC intervention projects. The session was aimed at guiding prospective contractors on procurement requirements, bidding procedures, and the board’s expectations during project execution.

Procurement Guidance Provided

During the meeting, the Director of Procurement, Mr Taofeek Oseni, emphasized that the engagement was designed to prepare bidders and ensure their submissions comply with legal standards. He stated that the board would not consider bids that fail to meet stipulated requirements.

Oseni explained that contractors must demonstrate professional and technical competence, financial capacity, availability of equipment, and qualified personnel to be considered for project awards. He noted that the procurement process is governed by the Lagos State Public Procurement Law, 2021. He added that required documents are essential to determine bidders’ eligibility and capability, and that incomplete or inaccurate documentation would affect evaluation outcomes.

Commitment to Due Process

The Board Secretary, Hakeem Lamidi, said the meeting was organized to clarify e-bidding procedures and post-procurement processes for contractors and suppliers. He assured stakeholders that the board remains committed to due process throughout the procurement cycle.

Babatunde Williams, who represented the LASUBEB Chairman, stated that the intervention projects aim to improve educational infrastructure and learning conditions in public primary schools across Lagos State. Williams explained that although the projects fall under the 2023/2024 intervention cycle, implementation is commencing following recent approval by the federal government. He affirmed that the board would ensure the projects address identified gaps in classroom availability and school facilities.
