Lagos State University of Science and Technology (LASUSTECH) has taken a significant step toward becoming a technology-driven center of excellence by partnering with Huawei Technologies. The strategic partnership, formalized during a visit to Huawei's office in Victoria Island, Lagos, on April 22, 2026, aims to deploy advanced digital and smart university solutions.
Key Solutions Discussed
The meeting brought together senior management from both organizations and consulting partners to explore collaborative opportunities in digital infrastructure and innovative educational technologies. Discussions centered on solutions to enhance operational efficiency, academic delivery, funding, and alternative power supply. Key solutions included an emergency command center, a high-education network solution (iMaster NCE), perimeter protection, campus security, and interactive classrooms.

LASUSTECH Vice Chancellor Prof Olumuyiwa Odusanya emphasized the institution's commitment to technological advancement. 'We are intentionally positioning LASUSTECH as a forward-thinking institution where innovation and digital excellence drive teaching, research, and administration,' he said. 'This partnership with Huawei Technologies is a critical milestone in our journey to create a truly smart campus that prepares our students for the demands of the Fourth Industrial Revolution.'
Huawei's Network Solutions Manager, Mr Tim Hanxu, highlighted the transformative potential of the solutions and the possibility of an inter-university digital handshake. Mr Awolesi Raphael of RENBAM Telecommunication Company, the consulting firm supporting the initiative, expressed confidence in the project's impact. 'This collaboration represents a model public-private partnership that will deliver sustainable digital transformation for LASUSTECH,' he noted. 'Our role as consultants ensures that the implemented solutions are tailored to the university's specific needs and long-term vision.'

The LASUSTECH delegation, led by Prof Odusanya, included Prof Abiodun Denloye (Deputy Vice Chancellor, Academics), Mr David Ògúngbè (Registrar), Dr Alpha Ebole (Director, ICT), Mr Lanre Kuye (Director, Information and Public Relations), Dr Steven Anu' Adesemoye (Team Lead, Digital & Creative Enterprise), and other senior Chancellery members. Huawei was represented by Mr Tim Hanxu, Mrs Nora Zhaojingjing (Channel Manager), Mr Samuel Onwuka, and Usman Aminu. REMBAM Telecommunication Company was represented by Mr Awolesi Raphael (Director, Project and Business Development) and Dr Victor Odugunwa (Technology Consultant).
