NECO Confirms September Release for 2026 SSCE Results
The National Examinations Council (NECO) has officially announced that the results for the 2026 Senior School Certificate Examination (SSCE) will be released by the first week of September. This disclosure was made by the Registrar of NECO, Professor Dantani Ibrahim Wushishi, during a press briefing in Minna, Niger State.
According to Professor Wushishi, the examination, which commenced in June and concluded in July, was conducted smoothly across the country. He stated that over 1.2 million candidates registered for the 2026 SSCE, a slight increase from the previous year.
Examination Conduct and Logistics
The registrar highlighted that the council deployed adequate resources to ensure the integrity of the exams. He noted that NECO introduced new measures to curb malpractice, including the use of biometric verification and CCTV cameras in some centers. “We are committed to maintaining the credibility of our examinations,” he said.
He also mentioned that results would be accessible online via the NECO portal, and candidates are advised to check their results using their registration numbers. The council will also provide printed result slips to schools.
Impact on Candidates and Educational Calendar
The timely release of results is expected to aid students in their transition to higher education institutions, as many universities and polytechnics rely on SSCE results for admissions. Education stakeholders have praised NECO for adhering to its release timeline, which allows for smoother planning.
Parents and guardians have expressed relief, as delays in previous years caused anxiety among families. One parent, Mrs. Folake Adeyemi, commented, “We are grateful that the results will be out early. It gives our children a better chance to prepare for their next steps.”
NECO’s Commitment to Excellence
Professor Wushishi reiterated the council’s dedication to upholding standards. He assured that any cases of malpractice would be investigated and punished accordingly. “We will not compromise on the quality of our results,” he emphasized.
NECO also plans to release performance statistics alongside the results, including pass rates and subject performance breakdowns. This data will help identify areas for improvement in the educational system.
Conclusion
With the release date set for early September, candidates are urged to remain patient and avoid falling prey to scammers who promise early access to results. The official NECO website remains the only authentic source for result checking.
