Corona Schools has unveiled a technology hub aimed at bridging the gap between learning, creativity, and emerging technologies while equipping students, educators, and the broader academic community with practical digital skills. The facility, conceived as a 70th anniversary legacy project of the Corona Schools Alumni Association, was officially launched at the Ibeju-Lekki campus. It is envisioned as a dynamic center for experiential learning and an innovation incubator where students can transform ideas into practical, technology-driven solutions to real-world challenges.
Investment in Future Education
Speaking at the ceremony, the Chairman of Corona Schools’ Trust Council, Mr. Olaniyi Yusuf, described the project as a deliberate investment in the future of education and in the capacity of young Nigerians to compete globally. He said the tech hub represents more than a physical structure, calling it a seed that will grow into a large tree with far-reaching impact. According to Yusuf, while the immediate goal is to provide students, teachers, and non-teaching staff with opportunities to develop digital competencies, the long-term vision is to create a vibrant ecosystem that nurtures innovation and inspires solutions to societal challenges. He emphasized that Corona Schools intends to use the hub to deepen its commitment to experiential learning, where students learn by doing, collaborating, and solving problems rather than relying solely on theoretical instruction.
World-Class Facilities
Designed as a hands-on learning environment, the tech hub is equipped with world-class facilities that expose learners to cutting-edge fields such as Artificial Intelligence (AI), robotics, coding, virtual reality, digital media production, and other emerging technologies. The infrastructure enables students to move beyond textbooks and lectures, encouraging creativity, collaboration, critical thinking, and real-time problem-solving. The layout and equipment were selected to support project-based learning, peer-to-peer collaboration, and mentorship from educators and industry professionals.
Digital Transformation Journey
For the Chief Executive Officer of Corona Schools, Mrs. Adeyoyin Adesina, the tech hub is a natural progression of the school’s long-standing commitment to innovation and educational excellence. Reflecting on the school’s digital transformation journey, she noted that the idea for the hub grew out of the institution’s experience during and after the COVID-19 pandemic. While many schools struggled to maintain learning continuity during lockdowns, Corona Schools successfully pivoted to online learning without shutting down academic activities. Adesina said the school decided to build on that experience and the digital infrastructure developed during the pandemic to create something more impactful for students and teachers.
Broader Digital Learning Strategy
She further disclosed that the hub represents only the beginning of a broader digital learning strategy that Corona Schools is rolling out across its campuses. She said the school is committed to staying ahead of emerging trends in education in a fast-changing world. Her vision includes developing the facility into a world-class learning studio where lessons can be recorded and high-quality educational content produced for the benefit of Corona students and learners everywhere. She also disclosed plans to introduce modular programs that meet the needs of today’s generation, including initiatives such as a Language Boot Camp for Nigerians in the diaspora who wish to learn indigenous languages.
Expanding Technological Footprint
Her vision complements that of Yusuf, who emphasized that Corona Schools will continue to expand its technological footprint to ensure that learning remains seamless, engaging, experiential, and accessible beyond the traditional classroom setting. He said technology would be integrated into teaching and learning in ways that prepare students not just for examinations, but for life and work in a digital economy. The launch of the tech hub underscores Corona Schools’ enduring commitment to preparing learners for the future by fostering innovation, creativity, and digital literacy. As education evolves in response to global technological advancements, the school remains steadfast in its mission to nurture a generation of critical thinkers, problem-solvers, and responsible global citizens equipped to make meaningful contributions to society.
Shaping the Future of Education
With the unveiling of the tech hub, Corona Schools is not merely responding to the future of education; it is helping to shape it through infrastructure, curriculum innovation, and a culture that encourages students to experiment, build, and lead.
