The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has released 279 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) results that were previously withheld. This development follows ongoing investigations into suspected examination malpractice.
Details of the Release
JAMB spokesperson Fabian Benjamin announced the release in a statement on his X handle on May 21, 2026. He noted that the released results are in addition to those earlier made public. Some results were outrightly cancelled where evidence of malpractice was established, while others were released when no prima facie case was found against the candidates.
Benjamin stated: "Results from centres where the Board's live monitoring team observed suspicious activities, or where adverse reports were received, remain withheld pending further investigation. Where sufficient evidence of culpability is established, such results will be cancelled."
How to Check Results
Candidates whose results have been released can check their status by texting UTMERESULT to 55019 or 66019 using the same phone number they used for registration.
Public Reactions
Many candidates took to social media to express their concerns. @OgbediJohn2001 asked about results that were given and suspended. @DIKEH431310 inquired about candidates without access to their registered phone number. @AbidaIbrah41803 sought clarification for those who received emails about the mop-up exam. @sandybabyonyii congratulated the affected candidates and hoped for the release of underaged results. @AdesakinCh65271 asked if their results, which showed "underprocessing" before the mop-up notice, have been released. @okon234israel pleaded for the portal to be opened for result viewing only, citing lost SIM cards and the upcoming post-UTME registration deadline.
Update on Original Result Slips
JAMB had earlier announced that printing of original UTME result slips for 2026 has not yet started due to ongoing examination processes and post-assessment adjustments. Candidates have been assured that the printing portal will be activated soon, with an official notification to follow.
Change of Institution Process
Meanwhile, JAMB has activated the UTME change of institution process for 2026 candidates. Interested candidates must visit approved computer-based test (CBT) centres to effect the change.
The UTME is a key requirement for admission into tertiary institutions across Nigeria, conducted annually and taken by thousands of young Nigerians.
