JAMB Urges 2026 UTME Candidates: Scan QR Code for Syllabus, Brochure
JAMB: Scan QR Code for 2026 UTME Syllabus, Brochure

The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has issued a clear directive to all prospective candidates for the 2026 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME). The board is urging them to utilise a simple QR code to access vital examination materials digitally.

How to Access 2026 UTME Information

In a notice published on its official X (formerly Twitter) handle, @JAMBHQ, on Tuesday, January 6, 2026, JAMB provided a streamlined method for candidates to get prepared. Instead of navigating complex web pages, aspirants can now scan a provided QR code to instantly download the necessary documents.

This digital approach grants immediate access to the comprehensive 2026 UTME brochure and syllabus. The materials contain detailed information on institutions, available courses, and the specific subject combinations required for each programme. Furthermore, candidates can find the list of recommended reading texts and other critical details about the examination through the same method.

Registration Timeline and Requirements

This announcement aligns with the previously released registration schedule for the 2026 UTME. According to JAMB, the sale of the 2026 UTME application forms will commence on Friday, January 31, 2026, and close on Saturday, March 8, 2026.

Prospective candidates are reminded of the essential requirements for registration. These include having a valid National Identification Number (NIN) and a functional personal email address. JAMB conducts the UTME as the centralised entrance examination for admissions into Nigerian universities, polytechnics, and monotechnics.

Context: JAMB's Stance on Admission Integrity

This move to simplify access to information comes amidst JAMB's ongoing efforts to standardise and bring transparency to the tertiary admissions process in Nigeria. The board has recently been assertive in enforcing admission guidelines.

Recall that JAMB had previously instructed universities to reverse any irregular admissions that unfairly favoured lower-scoring candidates over higher-ranked ones. The board maintains that all institutions must strictly follow the official admission framework, which prioritises merit, catchment areas, and educationally less developed states.

By providing easy access to the syllabus and brochure, JAMB empowers candidates with the knowledge needed to choose their courses correctly and prepare effectively, which is the first step towards a merit-based admission process.
