Business Leader Odina Meets Defence Minister, Pledges Support for Military Digitisation
In a significant development for Nigeria's defence sector, Olaniyi Odina, the CEO of Green Lunar Nigeria Limited, held a high-level meeting with Defence Minister Christopher Gwabin Musa at the ministry's headquarters in Abuja. The visit, which took place recently, focused on reinforcing the company's commitment to supporting the ongoing digitisation initiatives within the Nigerian Armed Forces.
Strengthening Military Efficiency Through Technology
During the meeting, Odina, accompanied by the managing director, Engr. Adewumi Oyekola, praised Minister Musa for his consistent support, particularly during his previous role as Chief of Defence Staff. Odina emphasised that Green Lunar Nigeria is avidly committed to advancing the digitisation of the Armed Forces, highlighting several key initiatives that have been sustained and expanded under the current military leadership.
These initiatives, as detailed in a statement, include the deployment of Electronic Medical Records Software in Army and Defence hospitals, Training Institutions Management Software and Computer-Based Test (CBT) software in military training institutions, Visitors Management Software for critical military facilities, and bespoke software for military unit administration and standards evaluation. Odina assured the minister of the firm's continued partnership, underscoring the importance of technology-driven reforms to enhance operational efficiency.
Proposals for Enhanced Support and Public Awareness
Odina also proposed a special discount initiative targeted at serving and retired military personnel, describing it as a modest gesture to appreciate their sacrifices. He further urged the defence ministry to intensify efforts in projecting the Armed Forces' achievements to the public, aiming to boost morale and public trust.
In his remarks, Engr. Oyekola expressed gratitude for the opportunity to collaborate with the Ministry, pledging that Green Lunar Nigeria Limited would continue to work closely with defence authorities to expand the digitisation drive.
Minister Musa's Response and Broader Context
Responding to the pledges, Minister Musa appreciated Green Lunar for the quality and professionalism of its services to the Armed Forces. He reiterated the ministry's resolve to sustain reforms aimed at strengthening operational efficiency and enhancing the overall capacity of the nation's military.
This meeting aligns with broader support for Minister Musa's leadership, as highlighted by former Speaker of the House of Representatives, Yakubu Dogara, who recently congratulated him on his appointment, describing it as a significant turning point in Nigeria's pursuit of peace and stability.
