UI Student Who Scored 330 in JAMB, 79 in Post-UTME Secures Scholarship
UI Student with 330 JAMB Score Gets Scholarship

After multiple attempts at the Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (JAMB), a student of the University of Ibadan (UI) has finally secured admission and a scholarship to study Medicine and Surgery at the institution. The student, identified as Seyi Catalyst, shared his journey on Facebook, detailing the scores that earned him a place and the financial breakthrough that followed.

High Scores in JAMB and Post-UTME

Seyi Catalyst revealed that in his last JAMB attempt, he scored 330 out of 400, and in the UI Post-UTME, he scored 79 out of 100. Despite initially feeling that his JAMB score was below his goal, he expressed gratitude. "When the JAMB result came out, I scored 330/400. That was actually below my goal, but we thank God. That was when people and teachers started believing," he wrote.

He recalled facing discouragement from others who doubted his ability to become a medical doctor. "Before then, I had heard statements like: 'Maybe you are not destined to become a medical doctor.' But I kept encouraging myself and moving forward," he added.

Overcoming Financial Hurdles

After beating the UI Post-UTME cut-off mark and gaining admission into the MBBS program about a month later, Seyi faced a new challenge: financing his education. His parents had planned to save money through a cooperative society, but the society changed its decision, delaying the disbursement until May while school was to resume on March 2.

"At that moment, I became afraid that I might not be able to attend school because of financial constraints. Although I had been positioning myself for scholarships, many attempts failed," he explained.

Scholarship Offer from a Benefactor

In a turn of events, Seyi met Ogoloro Presenter Idowu Akinremi, who learned about his situation and connected him with ASIWAJU MUNIRUDEEN BOLA OYEBAMIJI (AMBO). After hearing Seyi's story, AMBO offered him a full scholarship to study Medicine and Surgery to any level he desired.

"After hearing my story, he graciously offered me a scholarship to study MBBS to whatever level I desire. It was truly an amazing moment for me," Seyi said. He expressed deep gratitude, stating, "I would like to use this medium to appreciate ASIWAJU MUNIRUDEEN BOLA OYEBAMIJI (AMBO) for his support and generosity in ensuring that my dream of studying Medicine becomes a reality."

Impact and Inspiration

Seyi's story highlights the perseverance required to overcome repeated academic setbacks and financial difficulties. His success serves as an inspiration to other students facing similar challenges, demonstrating that determination and support can lead to achieving one's dreams.
