In a significant act of giving back, former students of Unity Secondary School in Ishiagu have provided crucial learning support to their alma mater. The Class of 2006 Alumni Association officially presented a donation of customised notebooks and various educational materials during a landmark reunion event.
A Landmark Reunion and a Meaningful Gesture
The donation ceremony formed the centrepiece of the class's 20th-anniversary reunion, held on 14 January 2026 at the Main Point Resort in Mile 2, within the Ivo Local Government Area of Ebonyi State. This gathering marked the first major reunion for the group since their graduation two decades ago, bringing together former classmates from diverse professional fields to reconnect and celebrate shared history.
The event was preceded by a nostalgic group tour of Unity Secondary School, Ishiagu, allowing alumni to revisit their old classrooms and grounds. The primary objective of the donation, as stated by the association, is to support current students, enhance the quality of learning, and reaffirm the alumni's commitment to the school's ongoing development.
Leadership Highlights Enduring Unity and Shared Values
In his welcome address, the President of the Alumni Association, Sunny Ibeh Jnr, anipr, expressed profound gratitude to members for their dedication in making the reunion a reality. He framed the gathering not as a display of ostentation, but as a genuine opportunity to reconnect, promote equality, and strengthen lifelong bonds of friendship.
"This reunion is a clear demonstration of the enduring unity and shared values that bind our class together," Ibeh stated. He emphasised the event's role as a platform for mutual learning and the reinforcement of camaraderie.
In a solemn moment, the president led attendees in observing a minute of silence to honour departed classmates and former school principals. Those remembered included classmates Ajah Ugwute, Ikpenyi Mathias, Ukpabi Maureen, and Nneka, as well as late principals Mr. Akpa, Mr. Roy Onu, and Mrs. Gladys Nnachi.
