Deputy Speaker Kalu Urges Investment in Teachers at Tolu School Complex Commissioning

The Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Rt. Hon. Benjamin Kalu, PhD, CFR, has strongly reaffirmed the National Assembly's unwavering commitment to policies and initiatives that strengthen education across Nigeria, describing it as the essential foundation for sustainable national development. Speaking at the official commissioning ceremony of the Tolu School Complex in Ajegunle, a significant legacy project of Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu's administration, Deputy Speaker Kalu highlighted this initiative as a strategic and forward-thinking investment in Lagos's future.

Holistic Education and Infrastructure Development

The complex, which impressively includes 36 schools and a stadium featuring 19 mini football pitches, goes far beyond mere infrastructure—it actively opens doors to life-changing opportunities for thousands of young Nigerians. Emphasizing the critical importance of holistic education, Kalu stressed the integration of academic and extracurricular facilities to effectively foster discipline, teamwork, and resilience among students. He warmly commended Governor Sanwo-Olu for his visionary leadership and President Bola Tinubu for the Renewed Hope Agenda, which prioritizes revitalizing education nationwide.

Ajegunle, historically renowned for its remarkable resilience and creativity, is now strategically positioned as a vibrant hub for educational excellence, Kalu noted with optimism. Addressing the students directly, the Deputy Speaker described the new classrooms as "launchpads for greatness," passionately encouraging them to fully embrace the opportunities provided by this state-of-the-art complex.

He specifically urged increased funding for teachers, curriculum development, technology integration, and inclusive policies to guarantee that every Nigerian child, regardless of background, has equitable access to quality education. "Today, here in Ajegunle, we are actively preparing Nigeria's future. May this complex stand for generations as a powerful symbol of hope, progress, and national pride," he declared emphatically.

The event underscored the collaborative efforts between federal and state governments to enhance educational infrastructure, with Kalu's remarks focusing on the need for ongoing support beyond physical buildings to include human capital and policy frameworks.
