Abuja Parents Slap Teacher Over Alleged Child Assault, Issue Demands
Parents React to Teacher's Assault on Child in Abuja School

The parents of a student who was allegedly assaulted by his teacher at an Abuja-based school have broken their silence, providing shocking details about the incident that led to them physically confronting the educator.

The Background of Repeated Assault

Through an official statement released by their legal representatives, the parents revealed that their child had been suffering from repeated physical assault by the teacher over a period of time. The young student had consistently complained about the mistreatment, with the situation becoming so severe that it began affecting his health.

The parents disclosed that their son started experiencing frequent headaches and blurred vision as a direct result of the slaps he received from the teacher. Other students in the class reportedly confirmed the teacher's pattern of abusive behavior, validating the child's claims about the repeated assaults.

The Confrontation That Sparked Outrage

When the parents visited the school to seek a peaceful resolution to the matter, they encountered what they described as shocking indifference from the teacher involved. According to their account, the teacher recounted the assault with what they termed as "chilling nonchalance" and spoke in a manner that suggested he believed he was justified in slapping their child.

Meanwhile, instead of addressing the situation, the school principal focused on filming the interaction with the parents. The combination of the teacher's arrogant justification and their fierce parental love ultimately pushed the parents to physically confront the teacher with slaps of their own.

Demands and Ultimatum Issued

The parents have presented the school with a comprehensive list of demands that must be fulfilled within 24 hours:

  • Complete removal of the video footage from all social media platforms
  • An independent investigation into the teacher's conduct
  • Implementation of verifiable child-protection reforms to safeguard all pupils
  • Retraction of all false claims regarding the child's expulsion and alleged refund of fees
  • Preservation and production of all CCTV records from the child's classroom showing the multiple assaults

The parents emphasized that failure to meet these demands would force them to escalate the matter to the Federal Ministry of Education, the National Human Rights Commission, the Nigeria Police Force, and the High Court of the Federal Capital Territory. They expressed particular outrage that the principal continued recording during the confrontation instead of intervening to restore order, and later uploaded the footage to social media.

The incident, which occurred on November 15, 2025, has sparked serious conversations about child protection policies in Nigerian schools and the appropriate channels for parents to address grievances concerning their children's welfare in educational institutions.
