Former UNILORIN VC AbdulGaniyu Ambali Dies at 68

Professor AbdulGaniyu Ambali, the former vice-chancellor of the University of Ilorin (UNILORIN), has passed away. The renowned veterinary medicine scholar and university administrator died on Saturday, June 6, at his residence in Oloje Estate, Ilorin, Kwara State capital. He was 68 years old.

Confirmation of Death

The director of corporate affairs of the institution, Kunle Akogun, confirmed the death in a statement. He noted that the current UNILORIN vice-chancellor, Professor Wahab Olalepo Egbewole, announced the passing of his predecessor.

Legacy and Service

Professor Ambali served as the ninth vice-chancellor of UNILORIN from 2012 to 2017. After his tenure, he was appointed as the chairman and pro-chancellor of Kwara State University, a position he held until his death. He died after a brief illness, leaving behind a legacy of academic excellence and administrative service.
