In a landmark move for education and cultural development in Northern Nigeria, the Founder of the MAAUN Group of Universities, Professor Adamu Abubakar Gwarzo, has made a monumental donation to the Alliance Française in Kano. The philanthropic act, which took place on 27 November 2025, includes a fully equipped two-storey building and a cash donation of Ten Million Naira (N10,000,000) for operational support.

A New Home for French Language and Culture

The new ultramodern facility, officially unveiled by the French Ambassador to Nigeria, Marc Fonbaustier, and Professor Gwarzo, is strategically located at Ahmadiyya Junction along Airport Road in Kano. This state-of-the-art centre is now hailed as one of the most advanced French language and cultural training hubs in the entire northern region.

The building is far from ordinary. It is packed with modern amenities designed to facilitate world-class learning. The facility boasts modern classrooms, digital language laboratories, and multimedia studios. It also features a digital resource library, conference halls, and learning-engineered furniture. To ensure a seamless educational experience, the centre is equipped with smart learning boards, audio-visual teaching tools, and high-speed internet connectivity.

Strengthening Bilingual Education and Cultural Ties

During the unveiling ceremony, Professor Gwarzo emphasized that this initiative is a core part of his long-standing commitment to promoting education and cultural exchange. He stated that the centre will significantly strengthen bilingual education in Kano, providing students with unprecedented access to top-tier French language training.

The French Ambassador, Marc Fonbaustier, commended Professor Gwarzo for his extraordinary generosity. He praised the donor for equipping the structure with cutting-edge facilities and offered prayers for his long life and continued health to sustain his humanitarian and educational contributions.

A Permanent and Dignified Base After a Decade

The Director of Alliance Française Kano, Ali Dabo, expressed profound gratitude for the donation. He revealed that in the organization's decades-long history, no individual has ever upgraded its infrastructure to such a high standard. Most significantly, this donation provides the Alliance Française with a permanent and dignified base, ending its reliance on rented facilities which had been its home for over ten years.

This transformative donation by Professor Adamu Abubakar Gwarzo marks a new chapter for cultural and educational advancement in Kano, firmly establishing a world-class platform for Franco-Nigerian relations.
