The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has officially set 150 as the minimum cut-off mark for admission into Nigerian universities for the 2026 academic session. This decision was reached during the ongoing 2026 Policy Meeting on Admissions, which commenced today, May 11, in Abuja.
Policy Meeting Details
The meeting was attended by the Minister of Education, Tunji Alausa, along with stakeholders from various tertiary institutions across the country. The gathering aimed to deliberate on admission guidelines and ensure a standardized process for the upcoming academic year.
Implications for Students
With this new cut-off mark, candidates who score 150 and above in the Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) are eligible to apply for admission into Nigerian universities. However, individual institutions may set higher cut-off marks based on their specific requirements and course competitiveness.
The policy meeting continues to address other admission-related matters, including guidelines for polytechnics and colleges of education.
