Appointment Details and Assumption of Office

Professor Morenikeji is scheduled to officially assume her duties on August 3, 2026. The announcement was made public by the university's Principal Public Relations Officer, Margaret Innocent, in a statement released to The Guardian in Ibadan on Monday. The appointment was further ratified during the 33rd Statutory Meeting of the Governing Council, held on Thursday, April 30, 2026. Academic and Professional Background

Professor Olajumoke Morenikeji, who has held the title of Professor of Zoology since 2016, brings more than 28 years of extensive experience in teaching, research, and university administration to her new role. She earned her Bachelor of Science, Master of Science, and Doctor of Philosophy degrees in Zoology from the prestigious University of Ibadan. Prior to this appointment, she served as the pioneer Deputy Vice-Chancellor of KolaDaisi University from 2023 to 2025. Her career also includes significant academic and administrative positions such as Dean of the Faculty of Applied Sciences, Head of the Department of Biological Sciences, and Chairperson of the Faculty Disciplinary Committee.

Scholarly Achievements and Affiliations

The university described her career as one marked by a sustained commitment to academic excellence, institutional development, and leadership in higher education. As an accomplished scholar, Professor Morenikeji has successfully supervised seven doctoral candidates and authored over 100 academic publications, including books and technical reports. She is also an active member of the United States Government Exchange Alumni Association (USGEAA), Nigeria, and the International Visitor Leadership Programme (IVLP) Alumni Association, Nigeria.
