Lawyer's Daughter Gains Admission to University of Ibadan Law After 5-Year Struggle
A young Nigerian woman, Oyeduntan Deborah, has achieved a significant milestone by gaining admission to study law at the prestigious University of Ibadan after five years of relentless effort. The fresh student celebrated her matriculation with heartfelt emotion, revealing that pursuing law at UI was a long-held wish of her father, who has been a practicing lawyer for over five decades.
Fulfilling a Father's Legacy Dream
Deborah shared her journey on LinkedIn, expressing both relief and determination. "Today, 11th day of March, 2026, the journey officially begins. Tho, it took five ladders (years) of relentless effort and pursuit. Today, my father's wish is finally taking form," she wrote. Her father, having served in the Nigeria Bar for over 50 years, had yearned for one of his own children to carry forward his legal legacy.
As the last daughter of her father and first child of her mother, Deborah acknowledged the immense pressure she felt. "There's this immense pressure mounted on me and it's always heart-shaking simply remembering I have so many people looking up to me, to raise the banner and take it up from where my father will officially leave it at for me in few years to come," she explained.

A hearty thank you to my parents and siblings for always believing in me, for being that shoulder on several nights of myriad of tears. There's finally a gleam of light in the tunnel," she stated.

Looking ahead, Deborah made a solemn promise to her parents. "4years from now, I promise to make you prouder dear parents, I vow to raise your chamber's banner dear Daddy and take this legal profession up the ladder of prosperity," she declared. She also thanked the University of Ibadan for providing the platform that allowed providence to take its course in her success story.
