NUC Approves 17 Programmes for University of Fortune

In a significant boost for higher education in Ondo State, the National Universities Commission (NUC) has granted full approval for the University of Fortune in Igbotako to commence seventeen new undergraduate degree programmes. This landmark decision paves the way for the institution to welcome its first batch of students into these courses starting from the upcoming 2025/2026 academic session.

Official Communication and Admission Quota

The regulatory body's approval was formally communicated in an official letter dated 29 December 2025. The correspondence was signed by Abubakar M. Girei, the Acting Director of Academic Planning, who acted on behalf of the NUC's Executive Secretary, Professor Abdullahi Yusufu Ribadu. The letter confirmed that the university had satisfactorily met all the stringent requirements set by the commission for establishing the new academic offerings.

A key detail in the approval is the institution's total admission capacity. The NUC has set an initial admission quota of 800 students across the newly approved programmes. The commission has also taken the procedural step of informing the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) to note the programmes for student mobilisation and the Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) process.
