A Nigerian man who began his academic journey as a pre-degree student at Obafemi Awolowo University (OAU) has shared his inspiring story of perseverance and eventual success. In a TikTok post under the handle @vibewithtofss, he celebrated his graduation from Ekiti State University (EKSU) after overcoming significant obstacles.
Challenges at OAU and the Switch to EKSU
The graduate revealed that he started as a pre-degree student at OAU, where he worked hard but was denied admission into his desired course. This setback forced him to transfer to EKSU. However, his struggles did not end there. Upon arriving at EKSU, he had to repeat his 200-level year after changing departments.
Balancing Business and Studies
While pursuing a degree in Human Physiology, the young man also managed his own makeup studio to support himself financially. He admitted that juggling entrepreneurship with academics was challenging and that he often felt constrained by the university system. Despite these difficulties, he persevered and graduated with a second-class upper division degree and a final Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA) of 4.43.
In his own words: "In 200 level, I had a makeup studio of my own and juggling it was tough too. Being in uni has always felt like I was in a box to me. I am super glad for where I am right now and I can't wait for what's to come."
Reactions from Social Media Users
The TikTok video garnered reactions from many users. One commenter, lonely kale, wrote: "I don't know how that 5.0 is possible pls I want to know? Congratulations stranger." Another user, Oriola, commented: "I will drop my testimony when I graduate and I pray and hope I attain my goal." A third user, identified as ???????????? , said: "God abeg me too wan do this challenge. No even about this TikTok video, I just finished my 1st semester exam as a 100 level student. I'm so scared I don't want to fail."
