Student Abandons Third Year Studies to Begin Afresh at UNIPORT Following Academic Scam

A determined Nigerian student has made the courageous decision to leave Ignatius Ajuru University of Education (IAUE) during her third year and restart her university education from 100 level at the University of Port Harcourt (UNIPORT). The young woman, identified online as @dfw_vee1, shared her shocking academic journey through TikTok videos that have since gone viral across social media platforms.

The Heartbreaking Discovery of Missing Results

According to her detailed account, the student initially believed she was enrolled in a regular part-time program at Ignatius Ajuru University of Education. She paid fees, accessed a student portal, and attended classes like other students, completely unaware that something was seriously wrong with her academic records. The devastating truth emerged when she attempted to check her results at the end of each semester.

"I was convinced that it was just like normal learning," she explained. "I had portal, paid more fees than regular school fees but learnt like normal students. But every semester that passes, I won't see my results."

Despite numerous complaints and attempts to resolve the situation, the university could not produce any of her academic results from her first year through her second year. All her examination records were completely missing from the system, leaving her with no proof of her academic progress over multiple semesters.

The Difficult Decision to Start Over

When university officials finally addressed her situation, they presented her with only one solution: rewriting all her examinations from the beginning. Unwilling to repeat years of study at an institution where her records had mysteriously disappeared, she made the bold choice to completely restart her university education elsewhere.

"Finally, I was asked to write all my exams from beginning so I just had to change," she stated matter-of-factly. "Funny enough, we were much," she added, suggesting she wasn't the only student affected by similar issues.

Now enrolled as a fresh student in the Department of Journalism and Media Studies at the University of Port Harcourt, she proudly shared a video of herself wearing her UNIPORT academic gown with the caption "From 300 level to 100 level" – a stark representation of her academic reset.

Online Reactions and Similar Stories

The student's story has resonated deeply with Nigerian social media users, many of whom have shared their own experiences with academic challenges and course changes. One commenter revealed: "A final year law student but now starting 200 level mass communication," while another stated: "Same 300 lv this year but guess who's going to pick up jamb form again this year? That's me. I don't care how long it takes to achieve my dream."

Another user shared an even more dramatic academic journey: "I am currently studying information technology and I'm in 400 level but I just got an admission to study human anatomy at UNN and I'm currently taking on the two BSc degrees at the same time."

The viral story has highlighted broader concerns about academic integrity and student welfare within Nigerian higher education institutions. It follows previous reports of similar situations, including a 400-level medical student at Ambrose Alli University who switched to engineering and restarted from 200 level after realizing her true passion lay elsewhere.

The student's experience serves as both a cautionary tale about verifying academic programs and an inspiring story of resilience in pursuing educational goals despite significant setbacks. Her decision to publicly share her journey has sparked important conversations about student rights, institutional accountability, and the personal courage required to make difficult academic choices.
