UI Admits Lady to Study Nursing After 9 Years

The University of Ibadan (UI) has offered admission to a young lady who wrote the JAMB examination more than five times and has now been admitted to her preferred course of study. The lady took to social media to share her experience after years of struggle finally paid off.

Nine-Year Journey to Admission

In her viral post, she revealed that she graduated from secondary school in 2017 but only secured admission into UI in 2026. She wrote: "I gained admission to study Nursing after 9 years of waiting! Stay with me as I share this journey with you."

She explained that after finishing secondary school, she had a strong desire to study Nursing at UI. She sat for JAMB in 2017 but was not admitted. In 2019, she tried again but still did not get in. In 2020, her JAMB result was not good enough. In 2021, her score improved, but she was offered Geology, which she declined because it was not her path.

That same year, she applied to a nursing school in Ibadan but did not meet the cut-off mark. In 2022, she applied again and was offered Community Midwifery, which she accepted as a stepping stone. She graduated in 2024 and became a licensed Community Midwife. Still wanting more, she wrote JAMB again in 2025, got a good score, applied to UI, but did not get in.

Admission Finally Secured

In 2026, she applied for BSc Nursing at UI and on March 12, she finally received her admission letter. On her Facebook page, Gbemisola Rachael wrote: "Then this year, I applied for BSc Nursing and on March 12, I finally got my admission. After 9 years. I didn't stop. Even when it was hard. Even when it felt impossible, I didn't give up. I knew there was much more to it."

She advised others in similar situations not to give up, stating: "So here is to someone that is going through a long difficult journey. Don't give up. Keep going. There's a reason for your story. And you'll definitely get there. God's plans are always worth the wait."
