UI Medical Student Shares 5 Tips for Scoring 89/100 in Post-UTME
UI Medical Student Reveals 5 Post-UTME Success Tips

A medical student at the University of Ibadan (UI) has shared five key strategies that enabled him to achieve an impressive score of 89 out of 100 in the institution's post-UTME examination. In a detailed video posted on TikTok, the student, who goes by the handle @dr.pepe08, offered valuable advice to prospective candidates while debunking common misconceptions about the exam.

Understanding the UI Post-UTME Structure

The student began by addressing a widespread belief that UI's post-UTME is the most difficult in Nigeria. He explained that this perception often stems from a lack of proper information. According to him, with the right guidance and preparation, the exam is manageable. He emphasized the importance of understanding how UI sets its questions and the typical topics covered.

"The first thing I did was that I made sure I studied the way UI sets their questions, the topics that come out and the likes. The thing is that, in the space of 60 minutes, you're going to be attempting 25 questions per subject," he said.

Early Preparation Is Key

The second tip he shared was starting preparation early, approximately two months before the exam. This allowed him to familiarize himself with the exam pattern and content. He advised candidates to avoid last-minute cramming and instead dedicate ample time to understanding the material.

"The second thing I did was that I made sure that I started preparing very early for the post-UTME, about 2 months before the exam. One advice for you is to make sure that you prepare very, very early so that you can familiarise yourself with things that are going to be coming out in your UI post-UTME," he added.

Focus on Relevant Topics

The third strategy involved studying only relevant topics that are likely to appear in the exam. He cautioned against the common mistake of studying random topics without focus. By concentrating on high-yield areas, he was able to optimize his study time and reduce unnecessary stress.

"The third thing I did was that I made sure I studied relevant topics—topics that are definitely going to be coming out in the UI post-UTME. One mistake that most people make is that whenever they want to prepare for an exam like UI post-UTME, they just study any topics they get their hands on," he explained.

Utilize Past Questions

In the final weeks before the exam, he intensively practiced with past questions. This helped him become familiar with the question format and time management. He noted that this approach significantly boosted his confidence and performance.

"The fourth thing I did was that I made sure that I used past questions. When it was just 2 weeks to my UI post-UTME, I started using past questions very, very well," he said.

Faith and Prayer

The fifth and final factor he credited was his faith in God. He emphasized that prayer played a crucial role in his success, providing him with calmness and focus during the exam period.

"Another factor that I put in place when I was preparing for my UI post-UTME was God. I really prayed a lot. I prayed," he concluded.

The video has since garnered attention from students seeking admission to UI, with many praising the practical and honest advice. In related news, a young lady recently gained admission to study Nursing at UI after nine years of trying, while another brilliant student secured a spot in Medicine and Surgery with a JAMB score of 335 and a post-UTME score of 88.
