University of Ibadan Student Details JAMB Rewrite and Course Transfer Experience
A student from the University of Ibadan has publicly shared his unique academic journey, explaining why he rewrote the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) examination in an effort to study his dream course, only to face a course transfer.
Narrow Miss Leads to Veterinary Medicine Placement
Identified on social media platform X as @prime_kraft, the student aimed to gain admission into the highly competitive Medicine and Surgery (MBBS) programme as a second degree at the University of Ibadan. However, his aggregate score fell short by just a few points, making him ineligible for the MBBS programme. Consequently, the university transferred him to Veterinary Medicine, a branch of medical science focused on animal care.
In a post that garnered significant attention online, he wrote: "In an attempt to get MBBS as a second degree at the University of Ibadan, I missed the aggregate by a few points and was transferred to Veterinary Medicine. Well, a win is a win regardless..." The post included a photo of him in full academic regalia, symbolizing his achievement despite the setback.
Clarification on JAMB Rewrite for Second Degree
Following inquiries from other X users, the student clarified that he gained admission through JAMB rather than Direct Entry. When asked if he used his previous Bachelor of Science qualification to apply, he confirmed that he actually sat for the JAMB examination again, stating, "I wrote JAMB actually." This highlights his determination to pursue medical studies through a non-traditional path.
