UI Student Who Wrote UTME Twice Graduates as Doctor From OAU

A young Nigerian lady has shared her inspiring academic journey, culminating in her graduation as a medical doctor from Obafemi Awolowo University (OAU) after initially studying at the University of Ibadan (UI).

A Decade-Long Journey

Identified as @medblaze on TikTok, the fresh graduate recounted how she completed secondary school in 2015. She enrolled in Medical Laboratory Science at the University of Ibadan but felt it was not her true calling. Determined to pursue medicine, she rewrote the Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) despite the portal having closed two weeks prior. However, the portal was unexpectedly reopened for another two weeks that year.

She scored 322 in her second UTME, a remarkable 49 marks above her previous score. In 2017, she faced another challenge: the post-UTME examination was scheduled after she had already completed her first semester of 200 level at UI. She passed the post-UTME and gained admission to study medicine at OAU on merit.
